The Borough was notified and advised of concerns regarding items being placed in the recycling dumpster at the Big Beaver Borough Firehall. The dumpster was observed to contain a significant amount of trash and other materials.
We wanted to share a reminder of the recycling guidelines so everyone is aware of what can and cannot be placed in the dumpster.

ACCEPTABLE RECYCLABLE ITEMS
PAPER/FIBER:
Copier/office paper
Shredded paper
Poster board
Business cards/card stock
Green-bar paper
NCR paper
Coated paper
Paper trimmings
Soft-back books
Magazines
Colored paper
Folders
Flyers
Product literature
Blueprints
Catalogs
Telephone books
Advertisements
Newspapers
Corrugated cardboard
Envelopes, with or without windows
PLASTIC:
Soft drink bottles
Milk jugs
Water bottles
Juice containers
PETE/HDPE plastics
Only plastic items labeled #1 or #2 are accepted.
METAL:
Empty metal containers commonly used for beverages and food
ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED
The following items cannot be recycled at our facility:
Gift wrapping paper
Bubble wrap
Styrofoam, including blocks and peanuts
Foam board
Polystyrene, including cups and plates
Take-out food containers
Cardboard contaminated with oil or food debris
Any items not specifically listed as acceptable recyclables
If necessary, acceptable recyclable items may be placed in clear plastic bags.
Please review the guidelines before placing items in the recycling dumpster. If an item is not listed as an accepted recyclable, please dispose of it as trash.
